The Making of Toy Story

Pixar's Toy Story was the first full-length feature film entirely produced using the technology of computer animation.  The main characters, Woody and Buzz Lightyear, are toys that come to life when humans aren't around.  Their story is one of rivalry, challenges, teamwork, and redemption. Making the film required four years of effort, from writing the story to creating illustrated storyboards, modeling, animation, lighting, rendering, and film recording.  This talk looks back at the process and experience of making this landmark film.

Mark Henne has worked in animation production since 1990, and has been with Pixar Animation Studios since 1994, working on the studios first feature length film, Toy Story.  Most recently, he was Crowd and Simulation Supervisor on Wall•E. His past projects include A Bug's Life, Monsters, Inc., The Incredibles and Ratatouille. His roles concentrate on using simulations to create organic movement for computer character animation. Mr. Henne has a MS in Computer Science from the University of California Santa Cruz in 1990.  His undergraduate degree is from the University of New Mexico.
